  • Hold a basic qualification accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC), enabling registration as a Pharmacist Intern.

  2. Obtain referral letters from three referees who can vouch for your skills and character.
  3. Indicate your preferences for five institutions where you’d like to be placed. However, keep in mind that placements might be subject to availability. If you fail to select five institutions, your application will not be considered.
  4. Gather certified copies of your Matric Certificate, Identity Document, University academic record for your three years of study, and your South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) student registration certificate.
  5. Even if you haven’t fully met the stipulated registration requirements for SAPC, you are encouraged to apply. If selected, you’ll be conditionally appointed upon providing proof of your application for registration and payment of the relevant registration fees.

Selection and Interview Process

The selection process will involve interviews conducted through MS Teams. Unfortunately, accommodation during the interview period will not be provided. Some applications are submitted online, while others can be posted or hand-delivered. Remember that an account is necessary to apply online, so make sure to register on the application portal.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit copies of their documentation for verification purposes. These candidates will then be invited to attend interviews on dates and times set by the department. The selection process will prioritize the Employment Equity (EE) targets of the department.
