The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was established on the 5th of December 2020 by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. Previously, the ministry was one of the constituent sectors in the then Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications, which existed between 2015 and 2020. The ministry aims to formulate and monitor the implementation of policies related to information technology, communication, and postal services. It is envisaged to lead the digital transformation agenda in Tanzania amidst the global fourth phase of the Industrial Revolution.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology was established by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania on December 05, 2020, which is charged with formulating and monitoring the implementation of ICT and Postal policies, and the Ministry is also responsible for ICT broadband.
