The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was established by an Act of Parliament, Chapter 469 of the Laws of Kenya, which became effective on 1 July 1995. The authority is responsible for collecting revenue on behalf of the Government of Kenya. The Board of Directors, which is made up of experts from the public and private sectors, makes policy decisions that the management of the KRA is to implement. The Chairman of the Board of Directors is appointed by the President of the Republic of Kenya. The CEO of the Authority is the Commissioner-General appointed by the Minister of Finance. The purpose of the KRA’s assessment is to collect, administer, and enforce revenue-related laws.
