SASSA News Updates Today
According to Sassa’s Social Relief of Distress Grant progress report, this is because the agency’s ability to conduct SRD grant assessments for July 2022 has been hindered. This is because previous regulations required beneficiaries to confirm their grant every three months, and this has caused delays in the agency’s ability to do so.

When June 2022, the third month after April, rolled around, several grant applicants failed to confirm their award payments. Sassa continued by stating that although there are still issues because applicants are not providing appropriate financial information. The July assessments required by the new regulations will soon be finished.
Applicants are urged to supply accurate information because Sassa will keep disseminating important information to increase grant uptake. According to the Minister, it is in the best interests of those who lack job, income, and who are vulnerable for the Department of Social Development (DSD) to design a flexible grant system.
The Department continued by saying that, even though they are aware that the majority of South Africans would prefer to be employed than get a grant, they are unable to watch helplessly as individuals lose their dignity at a time when the economy is still developing.
Applications received in April will be evaluated in accordance with the new rules. It will be paid out and should have been paid already because Sassa approved it. The likelihood is that if beneficiaries are having problems, it is because their banks are having problems.
Applications received in April were processed in June 2022. All applicants from the prior cycle, including those who have appealed, have already been taken care of.
